What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies — localStorage, pixels and device identifiers — do comparable jobs. Some are needed for a site to work; others measure audiences or support advertising.

Strictly necessary

These keep the site working and cannot be switched off. On apputil.com they are limited to local storage entries: your cookie consent choice, your favourites, your recently used tools and interface preferences. They stay on your device and are not used for tracking.

Analytics

Google Analytics 4 sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_<container-id>, typically valid for up to two years, to distinguish visitors and sessions in aggregate. They tell us which tools are popular and where pages fail — never who you are. These load only if you accept analytics cookies.

Advertising

Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies such as those on the doubleclick.net and googlesyndication.com domains — including __gads, __gpi and IDE — to serve advertising, cap how often you see the same ad, measure performance and, with your consent, personalise what you are shown.

If you refuse advertising cookies, ads are still displayed, but they are chosen from the content of the page rather than from a profile built across sites.

Third parties that may set cookies

• Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager — advertising delivery and measurement (policies.google.com/technologies/ads)
• Google Analytics — aggregated audience measurement (policies.google.com/privacy)
• Google Fonts — serves the typefaces used by the interface; sets no advertising cookie

Managing your choices

Use the cookie settings link in the site footer to review or change your consent at any moment — accepting or refusing takes one click and applies immediately.

You can also control cookies in your browser settings, block third-party cookies entirely, or use Google's own controls at adssettings.google.com. Blocking strictly necessary local storage will disable favourites and recently used tools, but the calculators themselves will keep working.
