How it works
No mathematical formula applies. The browser's SpeechSynthesis API tokenises the input text, maps phonemes to the selected voice model, and applies the rate (0.5×–2×) and pitch (0–2) parameters to the generated audio waveform in real time.

Can I download the speech as an audio file like MP3?
The Web Speech API only plays audio in real time and does not provide a built-in download or export feature, so this tool cannot save an MP3 directly. You can use it to preview and proofread by ear, and if you need a file you would record the system audio with a separate screen or audio recorder.
How do I change the speaking speed and pitch?
Use the rate slider to set the speaking speed between 0.5× (slower) and 2× (faster), and the pitch slider to adjust the tone between 0 and 2. A rate near 1× with a neutral pitch sounds most natural, while a slower rate is helpful for language learning or careful proofreading.
